Eating Disorder Treatment

Specialized therapy programs for those suffering from anorexia, bulimia and related disorders

Eating disorders are potentially life-threatening, and people who suffer from these illnesses require help from qualified therapists.

At Rockland Jewish Family Service, we offer an array of eating disorder treatment modalities that can be customized to meet the individual needs and goals of each client we serve.

Our services begin with a one-hour comprehensive assessment. During that time, you will meet with a therapist individually. Together, you will develop a treatment plan that best meets your needs. Your treatment plan may include the following:

Individual Therapy: One-on-one therapy sessions up to twice per week with a therapist who is specially trained and experienced in treating eating disorders. You and your therapist will work together to address the issues underlying your eating disorder and to achieve your personal treatment goals.

Group Therapy: Our eating disorder therapy group meets two evenings per week for one-hour sessions. Privacy and confidentiality are emphasized in a safe and supportive environment. Group members develop strategies for healthy coping, work on issues related to self esteem and body image, and deepen their understanding of the disorder through education about physical and emotional health while developing the skills they need to facilitate recovery.

Family Therapy: A client’s support system is often at the core of her recovery. Clients are encouraged to regularly include parents, spouses, and other important family members in their treatment.
